NVICP Compensation
That May Be Awarded

The amount of money awarded for claims under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Progam (NVICP or VICP) varies widely, depending on:

  • The seriousness of the injury,
  • Whether or not the victim will recover; and if so, when and to what extent,
  • The amount of short-term and long-term care that will be required, and for how long ... given the severity and duration of the injury,
  • Whether the injury resulted in death,
  • Numerous other factors.

How Much Compensation Is Usually Awarded?

There is no such thing as a "typical" award. Some awards may be relatively small, while others may be particularly large, depending on circumstances.

Awards to the estate in a vaccine-related death are limited by law to $250,000 plus attorney's fees and costs.

Awards to individuals with an injury judged to be vaccine-related have historically averaged about $933,000.

There is no limitation on the amount of an award in a vaccine-related injury. However, the law does contain certain restrictions.
